— Are we their creators, or are we becoming the created?

Humanoids are no longer just part of science fiction. We’ve already seen robots delivering food, cleaning, or assisting customers. But recently, humanoids and AI have begun stepping into roles we once thought were uniquely human—CEOs, judges, priests, and even therapists.
In this post, we explore real-world examples that are both surprising and thought-provoking. These developments raise an important question: Are we shaping the future, or is the future beginning to reshape us?
1. The Blonde Humanoid CEO – ‘Mika’ from Dictador
In 2022, Colombian rum company Dictador appointed a female humanoid robot named Mika as its CEO. Developed by Hanson Robotics, Mika is styled with blonde hair and a sleek, futuristic look.
She reads emails, joins meetings, and answers questions from investors. While she doesn’t have full decision-making power, she analyzes data and trends to offer strategic insights. The company describes her as a “bias-free strategist,” reflecting a new kind of digital leadership.
2. AI Judge Project – Estonia’s Legal Innovation
Estonia, a leader in digital governance, is experimenting with AI judges to handle small civil disputes, such as unpaid rent or neighborhood disagreements.
Both parties submit their information, and the AI drafts a legal decision that is reviewed by a human judge. Though still in early stages, this system aims to reduce court workload and speed up justice. Could AI one day make final legal decisions on its own? Estonia is testing that very possibility.
3. AI in Religion – From Monks to Robotic Priests
• In Japan, a robot named Pepper has been trained to perform Buddhist funeral rituals. It chants sutras, bows respectfully, and interacts with mourners—offering a low-cost, always-available alternative in a country facing a shortage of monks.
• In Germany, a robot called BLESSU-2 was introduced in a Protestant church. It offers blessings in five languages, raising its mechanical arms while reciting prayers.
These examples force us to consider: Can robots truly mediate between the divine and the human? Or are they simply tools mimicking sacred rituals?
4. AI News Anchors – Always On, Always Neutral
China’s Xinhua News Agency, in collaboration with Sogou, developed AI news anchors that mimic human facial expressions, speech, and gestures.
These virtual anchors are already appearing on live broadcasts. With no need for rest, no risk of fatigue, and no emotional bias, they represent a new standard in media delivery—accurate, consistent, and non-stop.
5. Virtual Therapist for PTSD – ‘Ellie’
Developed by researchers at USC with funding from DARPA, Ellie is a virtual counselor designed to help people suffering from PTSD and other mental health challenges.
She analyzes facial expressions, tone, and speaking pace to assess emotional well-being. Many users find it easier to open up to Ellie than to a human therapist. Her role may expand into hospitals, nursing homes, and veteran programs in the near future.
Final Reflection: Are We the Creators, or the Created?
As humanoids continue to enter deeply human roles—leaders, judges, spiritual guides, and emotional supporters—we must pause and reflect.
Are we the creators guiding machines with wisdom?
Or are we gradually becoming dependent on them, shaped by our own creations?
One thing is certain: these developments are not just technical milestones. They challenge our identity, our values, and our place in the world we are building.
